The kitchen

We take pride in our quality of Thai food and service.

A family business, cooking Thai street food on Haight Street since 1999.

How the kitchen cooks

Dishes are prepared according to ancient recipes, with a focus on how the flavors and texture of premium ingredients react together. The kitchen is under the supervision of a chef trained by the Thai chef Pa Dang.

We began as Thai House Express, and became House of Thai as the kitchen passed from one generation to the next.

  1. 1999

    Thai House Express opens.

The date the restaurant's own site gives in six places, and the one this build treats as founding.

  2. Since

The kitchen passes down the family.

House of Thai is the name the family cooks under now. The Haight Street room is House of Thai 2.

  3. Today

    120 dishes, 13 sections.

Cooked to order daily from 11:30 AM, with pickup direct from the kitchen.

Som Tum — shredded green papaya salad in a wooden mortar with tomatoes, green beans and lettuce.
Red curry with pumpkin, bell pepper and basil in a turquoise bowl, served with brown rice.
Tom Yum noodle soup — chili-lime broth with sliced pork, pork balls and fresh cilantro.

The promise

We promise to get better and better at serving Thai food in this city.
